Feel disrespected or disregarded by your co-workers? Your boss? Your team? Here are 7 feng shui tips to help get the respect you deserve.
Add Red on Your Desk (In the Right Place)
If work is where you are feeling disrespected you are going to want to pay extra close attention to your office and desk. Start by identifying the feng shui reputation area of your desk.
To find this place, sit in your chair as you usually would. Look at the far side of your desk. Mentally divide the far side of your desk into three equal sized areas. The middle area is the reputation area of your desk. Add red items here.
Extra credit if the red items are symbolic of what you would like to gain i.e. if you want respect for your leadership skills, and you have a favorite book on the topic put this here with a piece of red paper inside. (Double extra credit if the book happens to be red.)
Clean Up the Front Door of Your House
The main entrance to your home (the entrance the architect of the home would refer to as the front door) is the area most associated with your career in feng shui. Make sure this area is perfectly(!) clean. Do not have any dust, debris, storage, messes or clutter in this area. Ensure the door mat is new and welcoming.
A clean space with “welcoming” objects ensures energy flows freely and easily to – and through – your career.
Add Red in Your Office or Cube (In the Right Place, Of Course)
In feng shui, red is the color most associated with your reputation and as such, it is very important when you are working on getting more respect. To find the area of your office or cube that is the reputation area in feng shui, do the same thing you did to find the reputation area for your desk.
Stand in the entrance of your office or cube, looking into the space. Look at the opposite wall. Divide this wall into three equal sized areas. The middle area is the reputation area. Add red (remember it does not need to be seen to work) in this area.
Change the Position of Your Desk (If Not Possible Then Add a Mirror)
The desk “power” position in feng shui is with your back to the wall with a clear view of the door. (This must come from our fear of being eaten by a lions – and well, at some places of work this very well might be a legitimate concern.) If possible rearrange your desk to have your back against a wall. If this is not possible, add a mirror (this one gets good reviews) so you can see who, or what, is coming up behind you.
Get Rid of Any Bad Memories
If you want to attract good into your life, it helps tremendously to get rid of the bad. Remove anything (to the extent possible) from your home, and especially your front door, office and desk, that are reminders of bad times and unsavory people.
Change Your Screen Saver Picture
To help other people see you differently, do things to see yourself differently. Change your screen saver picture(s) to photos of things and times you are proud of.
Add Symbols of What You Have Achieved or Would Like to Achieve
Similar to adding a picture or pictures to your screen saver to remind you (and others who may happen upon it) of your accomplishments, on your desk and/or in your office or cube add reminders of what you have already achieved such as certifications, diploma, awards and mementos of times for which you feel particularly proud.
