Feel you were meant to do something big with your life? Something really big? That would even make you famous? Well, good news Feng Shui can help. Here are four Feng Shui tips to help get you started.
Find Your Fame & Reputation Area and Doll It Up
For 1000s of years Feng Shui has focused on nine areas – Money, Love, Family, Health, Children & Creativity, Skills & Knowledge, Career, Helpful People & Travel and Fame & Reputation. Each of these nine areas have a dedicated place in each room of your house.
To find the Fame & Reputation area of a room, go stand in the doorway and face into the room. (If you don’t know what room to use, go to the room that you use the most. If there is more than one doorway to the room, use the entrance you would most likely use if you were entering the room from the Front Door.) Look at the far wall. Divide this wall into three equal-sized areas. The middle area is the Fame & Reputation area. In this area you should:
- Add fire or symbols
- Add the color red
- Add triangular-shaped or pointy objects
- Add cactus
- Add reminders of things you are proud of / your accomplishments
- Add reminders of people you aspire to be like
- Remove any symbols of water, black or blue or freeform shapes
- Remove clutter, dirt, dust and messes
- Remove anything that is a bad memory or feels negative
- Remember nothing in Feng Shui has to be seen to work. Feel free to add these items above behind a piece of art, in a drawer, in a book, behind a piece of furniture, etc.
- You can then do this in the Fame & Reputation area of the room you use second most, third most etc.
NOTE: Be careful putting anything too energetic in your Bedroom. Consider adding two red candles in the Fame & Reputation area of your Bedroom and do the majority of work for your Fame goals in other rooms. The good thing about adding two red candles (these candles you will love, love, love – the smell is DIVINE) in the Fame & Reputation area of the Bedroom is candles and the color red are also good for romance and attracting / keeping your partner.
Write Your Fame Wishes Down and Put Them in the Helpful People & Travel Area
First, let’s find your Helpful People & Travel area. To do this, go stand in the room you use the most. If there is a particular room in your house that relates more to your fame ambitions than another, go stand in the doorway of that room and face into it. For example, if you have specific career ambitions and have a home office go to that room first. If you want to be a world-famous chef go to your kitchen.
If there is more than one doorway to the room, use the entrance you would most likely use if you were entering the room from the Front Door. Now, look at the closest right corner to you. This is the Helpful People & Travel corner.
In this corner, get a silver box. It does not have to be anything fancy. You can make one out of tinfoil. (Know in Feng Shui nothing needs to be seen to work.) On individual pieces of paper write your wishes as if they have already happened. For example, “I am happy I was featured on the cover of X magazine.” or “I am grateful to have received global recognition for XYZ.” or “I am proud to have met my goal of achieving XYZ.”
Fire Up Your Area that Helps You Get Started with Projects
In Feng Shui, the Bagua Map not only represents the nine areas listed above, it also represents seasons, times of day, body parts, illnesses, emotions and more. The area commonly known as the Family area is also associated with the 4:45 am – 8:45 am time period (the beginning of the day), the spring season (the time for things to start growing) and the emotion of excitement, invention and possibilities. When you are trying to get something in your life activated, you should look at this area.
To locate the Family area, go stand in the doorway of the room you use the most (unless it is your Bedroom, you should be careful about putting too much energy in this room.) Face into the room. If there is more than one doorway to the room, use the entrance you would most likely use if you were entering the room from the Front Door. Look at the far left wall and mentally divide it into three equal-sized areas. The middle area is the Family, spring, 4:45 – 8:45 am and emotions of excitement, invention and possibilities area. Here:
- Remove all dirt, dust, clutter or messes
- Remove anything that reminds you of obstacles in obtaining your goal
- Remove anything heavy or that weighs you down
- Remove anything that feels stagnant (Think: Photos of still water or still art)
- Add reminders of what you want to accomplish
- Add green, columnar-shaped objects and/or wood
- Remove anything that is a bad memory or feels negative
- As desired, do this in the Family area of the room you use second most, third most etc.
Pump Up Your Areas Related to Completion
While the Family area of the Bagua Map is about beginnings and starting new endeavors, the Children & Creativity area is about completing tasks or goals.
To locate this area, go stand in the doorway of the room you use the most (unless it is your Bedroom, you should be careful about putting too much energy in this room.) Face into the room. If there is more than one doorway to the room, use the entrance you would most likely use if you were entering the room from the Front Door. Look at the right wall and mentally divided into three equal-sized areas. The middle area is related to Children and Creativity, fall and 4:30 – 8:30 pm (sunset). Here:
- Add white, gray, circle shapes and/or metal
- Avoid black, red, freeform shapes, triangular-shapes, water or fire symbols
- Add symbols of what you are or want to be more creative with in regards to your ambition
- Remove anything that is a bad memory or feels negative
- Remove anything that feels nebulous (Think: abstract art)
- As desired, do this in the Family area of the room you use second most, third most etc.
- And of course, no clutter, dirt, dust or messes
Clean Up Your Front Door
The Front Door of your home, the door the architect of the home would consider the main entrance, is symbolic of your Career and the overall energy of your home. As most people want to be famous for something related to their Career, it is imperative to take a look at this area. Here are few things to do:
- Make it feel very, very welcoming (Think: cheerful welcome mat, outdoor sculptures, flags, wind chimes – but don’t over do it :))
- Clear out any overgrown landscaping that is blocking a clear view to the Front Door
- Make sure the door functions properly
- Don’t hang anything on the back of the door
- Make sure the door opens completely
- Remove any dirt, dust, clutter or messes
